[ mood | tired ]

- slept till 11am
- had breakfast
- debated napping a bit longer but then dad phoned so I had to move to answer the phone
- made self presentable
- went into lab
- watered flatmate's experimental flowers
- fed bees
- wrote a fair chunk of th*s*s
- watched an episode of Robin Hood on DVD, had fantasies about Robin and Guy...
- came back home and launched into mammoth cooking operation
- made the best game pie ever, which is pretty impressive considering I'd never made pie in my life before
- cleaned up a bottle of Bailey's that jumped off the fridge and smashed on the kitchen floor, bah bottle
- made apple crème caramel, having invented the recipe, thus successfully using up three overripe apples
- washed up
- got phoned by flatmate in America
- fed and cuddled hamsters
- splodged

Yeah, I'm weird. Was a good day. :D

Seasonal goodwill and hugs to all.

ETA: Oh yes, and obviously Dr Who was squeezed in there somewhere. Like everyone else, I am now on tenterhooks till New Year!

Party season! [20 Dec 2009|03:44pm]

There's something about December. You start November with this free, clear schedule for December, nothing particularly happening and think, "Hey, this gives me lots of time to prepare for the holidays! Great!".

And then it happens. Parties start popping out of nowhere. Before you know it, you've been to three parties in four days.

My week since Wednesday has gone thusly:
Wednesday: clean out hamsters a day earlier than normal as I know I might not get another chance for some time
Thursday: departmental Christmas party, get a wee bit drunk and frolick in snow outside the Queen's Building
Friday: Indian concert at V&A museum (the performer taught music to my flatmate, my flatmate's sister, and my flatmate's sister's friend, so there was much bowing, Namaste-ing and touching of feet)
Saturday: party with some friends involving mulling of wine (white and red), cider and WKD Blue (which, unbelievably, tastes quite nice)
Sunday: party with some other friends involving more mulling of wine, probably German style, and low-impact socialising

Tomorrow's also going to be busy, but with non-party activities, thankfully. American flatmates both now in America - after the threats of BA strikes, one of them rebooked her flight earlier to ensure she actually made it home, so there was some franticness earlier in the week and I'm now in charge of all her experimental flowers (and there are many). Both flatmates are presumably now enjoying the East Coast blizzards...
